Summary Report of Medical Directorate Activities for the Reporting Period — July 2016:

MEDICAL DIRECTORATE ACTIVITIES (aka, Information requested for the Directorate Report)

Number of Current Verified Members of the Medical Corps (from SFI Mbr Database): 211 members (+78 new affiliation member was added since January 2015)…this number is higher than the last report. Our goal for the 2015-2016 time-period was to recruit 200 members.

Brief Update: An Operational Plan was developed for 2015 and continues to be a baseline reference for STARFLEET Medical Corps members. The main themes are 1) raise community health awareness and home safety issues; 2) make explicit efforts to work collaboratively with SFI Regions to further develop health awareness programming (including community service efforts); and 3) make plans to invite participation.

1. The month July was spent, in part, encouraging member submissions for HYPOSPRAY and formatting submissions. The July-August edition was “posted” this month.

2. STARFLEET Medical Recognitions for 2015 and 2014–have been posted on STARFLEET Medical Corps website. Additionally, SG Dep Chief-Ops has formalized the recognition program and submitted recommendations to SG. SG accepted the recommendations. SG Dep Chief-Ops has, also, reformatted Medical Corps recognition template and proposed updates to SG: These have, also, been accepted.

3. With the knowledge for creating WordPress.com contact forms, we’ve spent hours preparing the contact form and the database to support the Recognitions Program. Both SG Dep Chief-Ops and SG Dep Chief-Admin (Web Site) have spent hours posting the recognition program on the web site.

4. SG Dep Chief-Admin (website) has updated the medical corps website and supported SG Office in various activities related to website re-fresh and maintenance.

5. Confirmation received about the STARFLEET Medical Corps message to participants of 2016 IC; ad space was purchased in program. SG Dep Chief-Ops will attend 2016 IC and will be the Senior Officer from the Medical Corps attending this event. Former SG LGEN Oliver Savander, Sr., has been in HOSPITAL for much of April, May, June and July: He is making a recovery. Flowers sent to Former SG LGEN Savander in rehab facility.

6. Using the “new” SG Office (blog) on the website (part of website re-fresh), SG Office is planning continue to encourage annual activities from all members with roles in Medical Corps: 1) Share at least one, health information piece in assigned region; 2) Plan one wellness event in assigned region; 3) Plan one community service activity in assigned region.

7. SG Sr Advisors and SG recognize the need to develop the leadership capabilities/opportunities of female members of Medical Corps and will actively recruit female Medical Corps members into leadership settings.

8. SG Sr Advisors and SG recognize the need to address the concerns of members outside US.
